Keeping an Eye on Your Search Engine Position

Filed under: SEO — admin @ 11:21 am

This is something that I do on a regular basis. You really want to do this when you start a new website or when you get on the top of the index.

If you have started a new website and have done all of the things that you need to do when starting a website you really should find out where you are listed on the major search engines so that you will know if your new website is going in the right direction or not.

In the beginning it will take time to find where you are positioned however it is well worth taking the time to do this.

There are a few ways to check where you are and how you are doing. You should do all of them when doing your evaluation. What you will want to do is to search your main keywords and keyword phrases as follows. Type these in the search field on Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

  • allintitle:Keyword or keyword phrase
  • Keyword or keyword phrase
  • The full name of your main page title
  • Run these three searches to see where you are listed. The allintitle you should be able to find somewhere right away providing that you used a keyword or keyword phrase that is not very competitive. If you are using a competitive keyword or keyword phrase you probably don’t have a very good keyword and you won’t be able to compete in the first place.

Click on every page of the results until you find your site using the above criteria. Use a spread sheet and type your position on each search engine no matter what position it may be.

It will probably take you some time the first time that you do this but after that you should be able to find your site pretty quickly for each of the search engines providing you document the results for each.

Check your position every day to see if your position has improved or has gotten worse. If you find that your website is improving, you will know that you are doing the right things to get your website ranked toward the top of the search engines. If it is getting worse then you will know that you need to make some changes to get it going in the right direction.

The thing that you need to understand is that your site will fluctuate up and down on the index. This is quite normal. What you want to look out for is that it is not heading in the wrong direction on a continuous basis.

Once you have found your website on the index of each search engine it won’t take you long to find it after that providing that do this on a daily basis. This is well worth doing and it will save you time and get you on the first page of the major search engines much quicker.

If you are already on the top of the search engines you definitely want to do this to make sure that you stay there. Things can change really quickly on a search engine index and if something happens to your position you want to know about it when it happens so that you can make whatever corrections necessary to get back on top.

Pay Per Click Can Be a Tough Game to Beat

Filed under: Pay Per Click — admin @ 8:45 am

While pay per click is a great way to get a new or not so new website known it can be a daunting task to get things going in the right direction so that it is profitable.

Too many new marketers lose money using pay per click advertising because of a lack of knowledge on their part. While pay per click is a very simple concept it is not so simple if you don’t know what you are doing.

Pay per click requires lots of testing to see what ad is going to be profitable. Most PPC advertisers have no idea how to use this great advertising tool to their advantage and ultimately lose money with their advertising campaign. Most will lose $500.00 and upwards trying to get their PPC ad going in the right direction.

Because of the lack of knowledge that these advertisers have about the PPC system they will never recoup what they have lost in advertising costs. It’s their ignorance is what costs them not the PPC system itself.

Unfortunately PPC programs such as adwords will not teach their advertisers how to use the adwords system and be profitable. The reason is that Google wants to keep its advertisers ignorant because they know that the less that you know the more money you will spend and the more profitable Google will be.

Don’t count on the suggestions and tutorials that Google provides with their adwords program because none of it will help you make money with the adwords system.

To make an adwords campaign successful and profitable you need to get unbiased information that will show you exactly what you need to do to be profitable. You can search the net for this info but I can tell you that most of it is very vague and that you won’t get much from it.

There happens to be one guide on the market today that will show you how to setup a successful adwords campaign that will put you in profit right away. The name of this easy to read and understand guide is called Beating Adwords.

Comparing Day Job Killer & Beating Adwords

Filed under: Reviews — admin @ 8:08 am

With all of the hype that has been going around all over the net about day job killer you would think that this is the end all to your problems of marketing on the Internet. Here’s a side by side comparison of Day Job Killer and Beating Adwords. I have read both of these guides and here’s my take on each of them.

    Day Job Killer

Day Job Killer is a PPC guide that was written by Chris McNeeney. Chris is also the author of Adwords Miracle and Project Affiliate X. I’ve read Project Affiliate X and found that it was written with great care. Project Affiliate X is a concise and clearly written guide that is very easy for the average reader to follow and understand. There are many good strategies in this guide that work very well. This guide is a good read. I can’t comment about Adwords Miracle because I have never read it.

Project Affiliate X broke the record on clickbank for the most sales made in the first week. In my opinion Day Job Killer, unlike Project Affiliate X, was carelessly and hurriedly written in order to get it out as quickly as possible to get similar success results as he did with Project Affiliate X. Day Job Killer did break Project Affiliate X’s record for the most sales made in the first week.

Unfortunately Day Job Killer does not come even close to all of the hype and claims Chris and his affiliates are pushing. The guide is very poorly written with so many spelling errors that at times you have a hard time figuring out what some of the words are. The layouts of the strategies are really bad and are unlike what the author and his affiliates claim, and are very hard to understand.

The black hat strategies in this guide are going to get a lot of marketers in trouble with Google. If you are new to pay per click it will be impossible to succeed with the Day Job Killer strategies. Even if you are a seasoned pay per click marketer I guarantee that it will take a lot more work and improving on any given strategy to make any of the strategies work. It makes me shutter with anger every time I think of the claim that Day Job Killer was written for the everyday marketer.

While I can’t tell you how to do any particular strategy, I can tell you about one, and what it is supposed to do. I remember this particular idea because it didn’t sit very well with me because it was so ridiculous that there is no way that it could ever work. What it claims to do is to knock off a successful ad campaign that has been running for a long time. In other words make that marketer take his campaign and run for the hills to never be seen again.

I can tell you that the strategies in this guide will be very difficult if not impossible to implement. Stay away from this guide because it is of high risk. You will certainly lose a lot more money than you will ever make with this thing. It goes without saying, that I never used any of the strategies in this guide and you shouldn’t either. They are too risky.

    Beating Adwords

The authors of Beating Adwords are Kyle and Carson, better known as the Wealthy Affiliates. They don’t disclose their last names. What’s up with everyone using made up names or only using their first names lately? I guess if it works for one person everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon and try it themselves.

Unlike Day Job Killer, Beating Adwords is not anywhere near as popular as DJK is. That’s probably because it is not as hyped or as well publicized as DJK is.

These two guides are as different as night and day. Beating Adwords is a very clearly well written guide that is extremely easy to understand.

The guide is basically a step by step walk through of the PPC process. It tells you what you should do to setup a successful PPC campaign. You are also told what not to do which is probably more important than knowing what to do in that it will save you time, money, and a lot of headaches.

The guide does not make any wild claims that you can just sit back and do nothing and somehow, magically, the money will start rolling in. You are told from the start of the guide and on the pitch page that there will be work on your part for the outlined strategies to work. You are not given any hyped up BS that you can make money with little or no work on your part. When’s the last time you made money without having to do anything for it? That’s what attracted me to buy this guide in the first place.

The guide talks about optimizing your web pages and tells you how to do it to give you better results with your PPC campaign. It teaches you how to bid on keywords at as low of a cost as possible and still be effective and at the same time be the most profitable. In other words they teach you how to get the biggest bang out of your buck.

There are a lot of things in that guide about using Google’s adwords system that I never knew about and am sure that most people don’t know about as well. The things that you learn about the adwords system alone will absolutely blow your mind.

I spent two weeks getting everything setup and underway using the Beating Adwords strategies. It was quite a bit of work but I got everything up and running and so far after running my PPC ads for the past week everything is looking great and I am in profit to this point.

If you have been considering buying a Pay Per Click guide, Beating Adwords is far and away the better choice. If you have been considering buying Day Job Killer you may want to put that thought out of your mind because you will get severely burned if you try using the strategies in that guide. Pay Per Click Advertising

Filed under: Pay Per Click — admin @ 7:57 am

If you have a new website ppc advertising may be the way to go to get visitors to your site and hopefully convert them to paying customers. Pay per click advertising can start making you money right away if it is done right.

I think I made every mistake there is to make when I first started using ppc. It took me quite awhile to figure out what I was doing wrong. I had spent in excess of $500 and hadn’t made a single sale. I was at the point of throwing in the towel with ppc advertising. The only thing that stopped me was that I new it must be effective because day after day, and month after month the same paid ads displayed on google. I figured these people must be making money otherwise they still wouldn’t be using ppc.

I have since fixed the problems that I was having and did recoup everything that I had lost in advertising expenses.

When using ppc advertising be sure to do the following. I didn’t do any of them in the beginning. That’s why I didn’t convert any sales. Hopefully this will save you from making the same costly mistakes that I made.

  • Make sure that the main keyword you use is very targeted to your sites content and product.
  • Your product must be related to your content. It can’t be something like your content. It must be directly related to your content. This is extremely important.
  • Link your product to every page on your website. Don’t make your product hard to find or your visitor may never see it.
  • Place your main keyword in the first and second lines and in the body of your ppc ad at least on time.
  • Write multiple ads using a different keyword for each to test to see which one converts the best.
  • Target your visitors who are directly interested in your content and supply a product that is directly related to that content and your sales conversion will be a lot higher than you could ever imagine. Again, do not provide a product that is something like your content. Provide one that is directly related to your content. For example. If you were the owner of a juggling site, you wouldn’t want to be selling rubber balls. While rubber balls are something like juggling balls they are not juggling balls. You’ll make sales with juggling balls, you won’t with the rubber balls. Be very descriptive with your product. People will not buy if they are unsure of what it is that you sell or unsure of what your product does.

You can make sales very quickly with ppc advertising if done right. You can lose money just as quickly if not quicker if done wrong.

Can A Newbie Make Immediate Money On The Web?

Filed under: Pay Per Click — admin @ 7:55 am

When I first thought of this my first reaction was to say no. The more that I thought about it, the more I realized that a newbie actually can make immediate money with very little investment on their part if he or she do things right. Of course a newbie wouldn’t be able to resort to his or her list because he or she would not yet have one. Of course a newbie could buy a list and spam people which is not a good idea.Search engines can take a long time to index a website and even longer to get a halfway decent ranking.

Since almost all newbies have absolutely no idea of how to optimize a web page to even get a decent ranking in the first place, organic searches would also be out of the question.

So what’s a newbie to do? There are so many supposed strategies out there (some that work, some that don’t), what’s the best course of action for a newbie to take? We all know that we need to get people to our website in order to be able to sell to them. That goes without saying. But how do we get them there?

The best way for a newbie to get new prospects to their website would be through pay per click advertising. While PPC will cost you an initial investment you will be able to recoup and hopefully profit from it pretty quickly. Think of it this way. Would you give someone $100 if they promised to pay you back $150 in a couple of days? If you trusted the person and their word, I’m sure that you would. That’s an easy $50 that you would make for doing basically nothing. That’s the way that you should look at PPC advertising.

Pay some money now to make money later. Hopefully right away. Pay per click can start making you money from the get go. Before getting into any PPC campaign make sure that you study and understand how it works and don’t do anything until you feel comfortable with it. You also may want to join a forum or two that deal with advertising. You’ll want to join forums that specialize in Internet advertising as you will find very knowledgeable people on this subject. They can advise you with any questions or concerns you may have. Run a Google search and type in forums”+”advertising” you should be able to find quite a few forums that can give you advice.

Google and Yahoo are the largest pay per click programs. There are smaller pay per click programs such as miva that are generally cheaper than Google and Yahoo. Check out Yahoo and Google and read how pay per click works and then join a forum or two to get some advise before you do anything. . If approached properly, PPC advertising can get a newbie on the fast track to making money right away.
